While academics and skills training are important, young children still need plenty of time to play, to explore their world, and to develop social etiquette. Play is critical to the healthy growth and development; luckily, I provide a balance between structured and unstructured activities.
We offer a comprehensive preschool curriculum for all children (yes, infants and toddlers can also join in on the fun) with the help of Mother Goose Time—a professionally planned preschool curriculum designed for childcare homes and centers. This curriculum is offered every day all year around and is both entertaining and educational with 3 years worth of monthly themes. Your child will enjoy activities such as art and craft projects, songs, storytelling, creative dramatics, science experiments, and even learn some Spanish vocabulary and phrases. Some of these projects will be taken home to share with you, and others will be group activities that you can ask about. We know that children learn best by “doing”; therefore, the activities the children participate in are developmentally appropriate, concrete, hands-on, and most of all fun. Mother Goose Time fulfills the Head Start Domain Elements, Standards, and Indicator Guidelines and is consistent with the National Association for the Education of Young Children Guidelines for curriculum content.
We also offer special programs, which include:
ESL/Bilingual Studies: All staff members are proficient in speaking both English and Mandarin Chinese and are able to guide children in both languages. As per your request, we can help your child get more accustomed to the English language or teach your child to understand and speak Mandarin Chinese in a conversational manner.
Monthly Library Visit: Once a month, we will take the children to visit the Kirkland Library to sit in on storytime and to checkout any books they desire. This special experience will help children develop a love for literacy as well as teach the importance of being respectful to books and returning them on time so that other children can enjoy them. The children will also be acquainted with public transportation since we will be taking the metro from the bus stop on NE 53rd St & 108th Ave NE into downtown Kirkland, which is just 2 miles away.
Parent’s Night Out: On the last Friday of every month, we will offer additional evening care from 6:00-9:00PM for FREE. I hold this special monthly event to give parents the opportunity to have the evening to themselves and to show my gratitude for choosing to be a part of The Wholesome Playhouse community. During this time, we will provide the children with dinner, dessert, a small activity, and a movie that will start by 7:30PM.
